Tour Overview

The tour begins at Plaza San Sebastian, which serves as Cuenca's western colonial border. You'll go to the modern art museum, which has a lot of contemporary art on display. You'll walk through the historic district of San Francisco to see the San Francisco market, the flower market, the culture house, Abdon Calderon Park, and the old Cathedral (without entering). Then you'll enter the New Cathedral, the country's largest, where you'll see the famous gold leaf canopy.
The tour will continue to the Homero Ortega Panama Hat factory, the most important in the country, where you will witness the entire manufacturing process of the famous Panama hats. Later, you'll go to the 'Barranco,' which has colonial-style terraced houses along the Tomebamba River. Finally, you'll see the 'broken bridge' and Turi's tourist balcony, where you can get a bird's-eye view of the city.
