Tour Overview
On this evening tour with a twist, you'll be invited into the Maya's secret world. Visit a typical Maya house in the heart of the forest near Playa del Carmen to learn about their food and rituals, then swim in a cenote after dark.
Travel to a Maya community in the jungle for a spiritual experience you won't find anywhere else. We'll start with a visit to a traditional Maya hut to learn about their ancient customs and meet the locals, followed by a demonstration of how to make tortillas and achiote chicken from scratch. Then, a healer – or shaman – will guide you through the ancestral purification rituals, which include seashells and fire in a temazcal, a stone-built sauna.
Before dinner, we'll take a walk through the woods to an ancient cenote where you can swim in crystal clear water. Finally, you'll dine with Maya people before returning to your hotel.
